19+ Ideas to Celebrate Father's Day Without Spending a Penny

Once you have children, it suddenly seems like the days of celebrations are doubled as your family grows. Just planning for Mother's Day and Father's Day can end up being very expensive, and it may seem like you are spending a fortune on gifts, decorations, and special events almost every month. And, if you do not realize it, very quickly you could be buying gifts and spending money without any control. So I want to help you.

I tell you that you can break that vicious circle, without any problem. Showing love to the owner of your heart on Father's Day - or any other occasion - shouldn't be synonymous with spending money on expensive gifts. Also, this is a great opportunity to teach your children that the value of gifts is not the most important thing.

There are a lot of fun experiences that won't cost you a cent with which you can celebrate Father's Day as it deserves while helping your children to thank their dad for everything he does for them - but without spending a fortune. These things may need a little more planning and a lot of creativity, but there are tons of options. These are just our 20 favorites.

A thank you list is always a great option.
It's easy to feel that people don't appreciate you when you're a dad. Make sure your loved one knows how much they love him by writing a thank you list. It can be a list for the whole family or several individual lists. It will be a super special gift!

4/20
Take care of the barbecue!
If your husband likes to be in charge of handling the roasts, you can give him the day off and take the reins yourself. Grill his favorite cuts and have your kids help with the desserts, while he relaxes and enjoys his favorite drink.

Prepare him a special-themed meal.
On this Father's Day, you can make a whole meal based on your favorite dishes. If you love sweets, make desserts dinner. Or, if what you want is the bacon, be sure to try these recipes based on that delicacy.

Go to Netflix and find his favorite movies so that your children can enjoy them with him. Make popcorn and enjoy a family night out.

8/20
Prepare poetry or play with your children.
Help your children do the most special poetry or play for dad on Father's Day. You can make costumes, design the set, write the script ... everything! You could even make the story about him.

9/20
Turn off the phone and prepare a family game night.
Spending quality time together can be difficult, especially when children get older. For Father's Day, you can get everyone to turn off their cell phones and get together for great family game nights. To make it more special, prepare something to eat, and have everyone in their pajamas.

10/20
Give Dad a day off.
Between work and everything he has to do on the weekends for the family, maybe it's best if you give him a day off. You can take things off his to-do list one day so he can relax and enjoy the family.

11/20
They can go camping.
Save money from camping and prepare a camping trip in your own patio or garden. You can recreate the entire experience without spending a penny. Take out the camping tent, light a fire, prepare hot dogs and marshmallows for the boys, and enjoy your day with your sweetheart.

12/20
Go for a walk in the mountains.
If the dad in your life likes nature, there is no better plan for Father's Day than a good hike up the mountain. There are many national parks that are free and
beautiful, and they have spectacular ways to enjoy with the family. Take something
of a food and prepare a super special picnic.

13/20
Or they can go for a bike ride.
If the mountain hike is far away, you could also plan a family bike ride, even around your own neighborhood. To take it to another level, you can even plan a picnic at the end.

14/20
Write to him with love letters.
You could give dad a set of love letters written by everyone in the family. You can help the children write them down and give them all together. If your children are too young to write their own letters, have them dictate how they feel about their dad and you write it to them.

15/20
Write him a poem.
You can be even more creative and sit down with your kids to write a super special poem dedicated to Dad. Find an old photo frame and frame it as a gift for Father's Day.

If your children are very creative, they could all write him a story in which he is the protagonist.

Apapáchalo on his most special day.
Although they may not always admit it, men like to be cuddled as much as we do. Give her a super special gift by creating a home spa so she can enjoy something she really likes. Children may be in charge of a relaxing foot massage.

18/20
Serve him breakfast in bed.
Likewise, moms aren't the only ones who like breakfast in bed. Make him his favorite breakfast and take him to bed to enjoy with a good coffee, surrounded by his favorite people.

19/20
And continuing down that slope ... why not let him sleep late?
Turn off the alarm clock, let the kids know, and let him enjoy a couple more hours of sleep.

20/20
Together, they can wash your car.
Save him the trip and the money and wash the car with the children. This could be a very fun activity with your children.
